L’Antique is a project that looks at the design of a boutique hotel located on the Highline in New York City, New York. It was a collaborative effort completed by myself and Liza Bruyako. The following documents represent only the components I had a role in creating, with exception of the collaborative efforts in the second level floor plan and programming.
Upon entering the hotel on the first floor, the guests will be faced with the staircase centered in the space, inciting exploration. Natural logs are used to guide the visitor up.  The aged wood is harmonious with the vintage objects, demonstrating a sense of time in the hotel. The bar feels reminiscent of a French parlor, sophisticated yet comfortable. The atmosphere is mature with soft lighting and intimate seating, designed for parties of 1-4. Going up to the second floor, the upstairs accommodates relaxation, play, and work. Relaxing and energizing rooms are located on the second floor with an adjacent cafe. These areas will draw the people in from the Highline as they include a level of public access the first level does not. The relaxing space is comprised of nooks that  target  guests looking to be tucked away, and maybe  lost in the stories available in the nearby book shop. The nooks are enclosed and quiet. Games such as billiards or chess are made available in the energizing space. The cafe faces the highline, inviting an additional group to enjoy hotel amenities. The rooms for relaxation and work entice them stay.

L'Antique is dedicated to handcrafted, aged goods. Antique barrels, clocks, bottles, and other items are scattered through the space. To emphasize this quality, the rendering on the right uses the Revit model as a guide, but is rendered by hand using color pencils.
